For teen girls, Ages 11-14
During their early teenage years, girls face many difficult challenges while trying to effectively manage their emerging physical/social/emotional identities, school demands and parental expectations. This Group will address the following challenges through education, interactive exercises, processing, and other activities:
- Understanding connections between thoughts, feelings and emotions;
- Healthy management and expression of stress, frustration and other feelings;
- Overcoming discomfort with social interactions (making and keeping meaningful friendships);
- Confronting challenges with schoolwork, teachers, and other students;
- Dealing with parents and family issues (developing separation and independence);
- Handling peer group pressures (acceptance, rejection, bravado, and shyness);
- Wild card topics (group members’ choice)
