A family that plays together stays together

SOCCER:  The perfect family activity

 

As the Winter Holidays crash upon us in a frenzy of food, shopping and holiday festivities, you do not have to limit your family’s fitness and fun.  Resist the urge to lay sedentary on the couch with the family watching drab Holiday programming and scarfing down empty carbs.  Let’s face it, the “winter weather” of 55-65 degrees and the occasional drizzle here in California is no excuse.  To us East Coasters, we consider that a heat wave.

 

My favorite family activity whether it be indoor or outdoor is Soccer!  My fondest childhood memories were playing soccer with my Dad and my sister.  We would laugh so hard that we would always end up on the ground in stitches!

 

Soccer is the fastest growing sport for boys and girls in America today, thanks to the recent World Cup for both men and women.  Worldwide, it is the most popular sport on the planet.  It is a team sport, involving 11 players on each side who use their legs, head and torso to pass a ball and score goals. The nature of the game means that players may be sprinting, running fast or slow, and sometimes may be standing around.

During their early teenage years, kids face many difficult challenges while trying to effectively manage their emerging physical/social/emotional identities, school demands and parental expectations.  This Group will address the following challenges through education, interactive exercises, processing, and other activities.
